The Challenge

Fill out a contact or sign-up form using only your keyboard.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Access the Form:
Open the page that contains the contact or sign-up form.
  2. Keyboard-Only Navigation:
    • Disable your mouse if possible, or simply refrain from using it.
    • Use the Tab key to navigate through the form fields, buttons, and links.
    • Use Shift + Tab to move backwards if needed.
  3. Fill Out the Form:
    • Enter data into each field (e.g., name, email, message) using only your keyboard.
    • Pay attention to the focus state to ensure that you know which field is active.
  4. Submission Process:
    • Navigate to the submit button and press Enter to submit the form.
    • If errors occur, use your keyboard to move to the problematic fields and note how the error messages appear.

Reflection Questions:

  • Labeling: Are all form fields properly labeled so that you understand what information is required?
  • Navigation: Can you easily move from one field to the next without any interruptions or confusion about where your focus is?
  • Feedback: When errors occur, how clear are the error messages? Do they effectively communicate what needs to be corrected?
  • Success Indicators: After form submission, is the success message or confirmation clearly announced and easy to perceive using only keyboard navigation?
